SANDAKAN YACHT CLUB PAID COURTESY TO THE ROYAL MALAYSIAN NAVY

SANDAKAN : Office-bearers of Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy base here First Admiral Ahmad Abdullah recently.

The SYC committee members were led by Commodore Daniel Liaw. Also in the group were Vice Commodore Paul Sabinus, Honorary Secretary Fernando Rulloda and Honorary Treasurer Jeremy Chan and Honorary Vice Commodore James Pua.

The SYC has been actively playing a role in Government's efforts to promote sailing in Sandakan. Over the years the Club succeeded in producing young sailors that went on to win honours in district and international level competitions.

During the discussion, Daniel also briefed Ahmad on the SYC's sailing programmes.  The Commodore spoke on the proposed joint efforts between the navy and SYC  to develop a sailing programmes to train  and further enhanced young sailors in Sandakan.
