KOTA KINABALU: DAP Sabah told Transport Ministry to give the same extension given to Kuala Lumpur, to Sabah pertaining to the implementation of new My SIKAP system, to ensure smooth & efficient transition from old system to new system.
Junz Wong (photo) who is DAP Sabah Assistant Secretary claimed that the new JPJ system via MY SIKAP which has been implemented on 1 November, has created many hassles for public, used car dealers and also JPJ themselves.
“Since the new system has been implemented, there have only been few counters opening for service everyday. Is it obvious that even their JPJ staffs themselves have not learnt how to operate the system properly.
“Despite JPJ operating on Saturday and Sunday, they are unable to cope with the services,” Junz said.
“With the lack of know-how the new system, renewing road tax could take up to 2 days! This is simple too much hassle for normal car users,” he claimed
He said the auto industry would be most badly affected as car dealers are already showing their unhappiness and grievances seeking DAP to highlight this urgent issue. Junz said at a press conference.
This system has literally impacted their business negatively. Some are already facing possible “close shop” situations if this persists.
Car sales transaction can only be completed in a week time when it used to be able to be done with just one day period, car sales have been drastically affected.
Used car dealers would no longer take in second hand cars for time being because they are finding difficulties to clear off their existing used cars stocks with the new JPJ system. New car buyers will face difficulties to buy new cars because most will have to sell off their existing cars which are usually taken in by used car dealers.
Also one thing which i have failed to understand is that why normal car users and public are not allowed to renew road tax and driving licenses in Pos Office anymore? Whats the rational?
Can you imagine when all Sabah car users and public going to JPJ just to renew their licenses and road tax? Junz asked.
JPJ Sabah should immediately delay the implementation of My SIKAP system, give time extension to ensure smooth and consistent transition of the system. Junz concluded...BI
