CONTRIBUTION BY SANDAKAN PARLIAMENT OFFICE

Stephen: Not satisfy with answers given

Although the emergency motion on recent Semporna Kidnapping incident was allowed to debate in parliament on last monday, however, I am not satisfy to the answers or replies given by the minister of Prime Minister's department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

First of all, I had queried that what is the status of public fund which has been allocated to ESSCOM? The relevant questions were totally skipped by the minister and no reply at all.

I learnt that initially RM110million was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to set up ESSCOM.

Subsequently, PM announced in the 2014 budget that the government will allocate RM75million "to further strengthen ESSCOM operations" and RM11million to upgrade the facilities including 62 checkpoints in Sabah East Coast.

I expect that than RM300million of allocation had been allocated to ESSCOM but it is utterly sad to see it has failed its function to safeguard the safety of East Coast Sabah.

The people of Malaysia, particularly Sabahans, want to know how was the money spent? And what is the structure of ESSCOM? How many staffs under ESSCOM and what is the amount of emolumen?

On the other hand, I am not impressed with the answers given by the minister. He totally skipped and refused to reply my doubt and suggestion on RCI and PATI issue.

I have to state my stance very clear that I've suggested the government should immediately refresh the IC in Sabah, reissue the IC to genuine Sabahan.

It is the best way to settle all these issues. I also urge that the RCI report should not delay anymore.
