BYPASS ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT 8 MILE ROAD LABUK ANSWER THE MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS

KUALA LUMPUR - In the  Session of Parliament debates  Sandakan Member of Parliament  Stephen Wong Tien Fatt asked the Minister of Public Works in relation to the construction of Bypass Road Project.

Question Stephen Wong: - Is the first package of the project Libaran Bypass in open tenders, and if whether the project will start and the expected complete?

What is the total estimated cost and the current allocation for this project, especially for the four packages?

For the information of Honourable Members, the project builds Shortcuts Libaran, Sabah involving the scope of building a new four-lane road with two-way JKR R5 design standards along the 25km. Implementation of the project is divided into 4 packages and will be implemented in stages, subject to the approval provisions of the Central Agency

Concerning  the Rolling Plan 4, Plan 10, the government has agreed a package 4 conducted prior to the estimated project cost of RM92.5 million . Nowadays tender for the package (Package 4 along 7.16km) has been called and the contractor is expected to start construction in June 2014. This package will take the time to build for 24 months
