SANDAKAN:- Nearly 300 LDP grassroots members on
Wednesday evening gathered to show solidarity and loyalty to Datuk VK Liew as
the party president.
The group led by Supreme Council Member Tiong King
Kiong and Information Chief Yap Mah Siong were also standing firmly behind
Liew's plan to pursue action against the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in court.
“Our principle and stand will not be influenced by the
rival faction's claim and will continue to give full backing to Datuk VK Liew
as LDP president,” Tiong said during the event at a restaurant.
Datuk VK Liew on Tuesday had insisted that he was the
rightful president of LDP and demanded a written confirmation from ROS on claim
by the rival faction that ROS had issued
an official letter dated 2 Jan 2014 endorsing the party congress and election
held on Oct 19 and 20 last year by Datuk Teo Chee Kang's group.
The legitimacy of Teo's election was clouded with
illegality and he was hanging on a piece of paper that had no legal value, Liew
said in respond to Teo's claim that ROS had, in a letter addressed to the party
Secretary General received on Jan 2 this year which Teo claimed ROS had agreed
after conducting investigation the LDP party election by Teo's faction last
October was proper and legitimate.
Liew stated he had not received the purported letter
from ROS which Teo claimed to have received, adding that, he had instructed his solicitors to write to ROS
requesting for a confirmation on this matter since the news of the purported
decision of ROS was first reported in the local newspapers.
