DANIEL LIAW WAS RETURNED AS THE COMMODOR SANDAKAN YACHT CLUB

SANDAKAN:  The candidates for the top five posts of the Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) general committee for the 2015-2016 term were elected unopposed at the recent  SYC Annual General Meeting.

Daniel Liaw廖伟雄 was returned as the Commodore of Sandakan Yacht Club (SYC) for a second consecutive term.

Apart from Daniel Liaw廖伟雄, the others who won uncontested were Richard Lim林紫靈, (Vice Commodore), James Leong梁駿健 (Rear Commodore), Fred Wong王惠堅 (Honorary Secretary), Jeremy Chan陈在仁 (Honorary Treasurer).

Both James Leong 梁駿健 and Jeremy Chan陈在仁 were the Rear Commodore and Honorary Treasurer respectively in the previous SYC general committee.

Five candidates vied for the four Committee Member slots. The contest was won by Chin Nam Hong陈南雄 (Food & Beverage), Norman Sim沈伟聰 (Sports), Paul Wong 王和仁 (Security) and Melissa Eng翁世敏 (Entertainment).

Meanwhile, the new air conditioned bar project proposed by the previous SYC general committee was approved in the Extraordinary General Meeting held before the AGM.

According to Daniel Liaw 廖伟雄, the SYC general committee has plans to attract more new and young members to join the club and the new air conditioned bar project is one of the initiatives towards this objective.

“Two major events to be hosted by SYC this year are the Sandakan River Race/ Sandakan Regatta/ Sabah Closed 2015 and Asia Pacific Interport Balut  in November,” Daniel廖伟雄 said.

Other activities include the annual SYC-Sandakan Festival Open Fishing competition in August and also the SYC Harvest Festival in May, he added.
