SAPI:- Twenty three Chinese school
management boards, schools and school associations received cash aid from Batu
Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin here on Saturday.
Linda
presented the cash aid to representatives of the various school management
boards, schools and school associations in Sandakan during the yearly dinner
with school officials, Parents-Teachers Association and school management in
Batu Sapi Parliamentary constituency at a leading seafood restaurant on April
25.
She
also handed over cheques from the Education Ministry to six Chinese primary
schools at the function attended by more than 200 representatives of Chinese
school management board committees, principals, teachers and other officials in
Sandakan.
“The
Barisan Nasional Government will continue to provide aid to Chinese schools
which is part of the education system in the country,” Linda said.
On
another development, Linda called on school management board committees,
Chinese school associations and principals in Sandakan to form a sub-committee
to review the performance of Chinese schools in UPSR examination.
“Chinese
schools in Kota Kinabalu fared better than the Chinese schools here in UPSR, we
must look into ways on how we can best improve our performance to achieve
better results,” she said.
Linda
also announced she would be giving 1,000 plastic chairs to the 20 Chinese
primary schools and kindergartens in Sandakan.
