SANDAKAN : People who live in the township and village are encouraged to participate in Drug Prevention Association Malaysia (PEMADAM) in view of the role of NGOs such as PEMADAM many benefits in terms of social context.

Chairman of the Bureau of Women's Affairs Branch PEMADAM, Noraini Sulong, said the existence of PEMADAM has helped thus facilitating the government, particularly to address the problems that plagued the community over the years.

"For example, substance abuse problems that require hard work to be eradicated, but if we join PEMADAM not only facilitate the government side, but also a matter of public concern involving NGO 's .

"So it was so, we in LAM is driven to help all the efforts of the government towards creating a society that is healthy and free from drugs," he said.

He was speaking during the official opening Formation Committee Meeting LAM Sponsor Village Housing Scheme Karamunting held at Unity Nursery, Village Karamunting, here, on Sunday afternoon.

Noraini , who is also Wanita Umno chief Sandakan hope the new committee was formed headed by the Chairman of the sponsors of Jafruddin Jaffar can actively considering the role and contribution to society can not be denied.

This, he said, PEMADAM is a bridge that helps government thus combating drug abuse should have been reported in the area around them.

"I applaud the efforts and initiatives of the commitment Jafruddin brother had finally managed to form the PEMADAM  sponsor for the Housing Scheme Village Karamunting this.

"I hope you all are able to actively assist the government in its continuing mission to combat unhealthy. Distribute more information about the dangers of drugs to the children who become an asset to the development of the country , "She said.
